This year marks the 30th Anniversary of Pac-Man.
Pac Man is, of course, a diatribe against drug culture. Our hero starts off small time, munching down a few party drugs just to see what the fuss is all about, but we all know that eventually those little pills just won't do it for you anymore, and soon enough he's moving on to 'power pellets' (an obvious allegory for heroin.) His paranoia manifests itself in the form of malevolent spirits chasing him through an inescapable maze, just when he thinks he's found a way out, he finds himself back inside. His only escape is to go further down the rabbit hole, the only relief from the demons chasing him is to ingest more and more illicit substances until eventually he feels an over inflated, amphetamine fueled sense of power, and can consume his problems, striking them from his distorted reality. But in the cold light of day, once the buzz has worn off, his problems always return, pursuing him just as furiously as before, perhaps more so, creating a constant loop of addiction. Ultimately however, his demons will catch up with him, once he starts down the road toward oblivion, there is no escape, he can only go deeper until it inevitably leads him to his untimely demise...
Oh, and you also eat some fruit and shit.
